Consumers to Report Problems to MedWatch

The FDA has issued a new consumer-friendly reporting form that is meant to aid in improving consumer voluntary reporting with a less-technical consumer form. The FDA has worked with consumer groups to help promote consumer reporting, and it was these consumer advocacy groups that identified that the previous MedWatch form was far too technical. The new form has a detailed directions page describing when and how to use the form as well as what will happen to the information once reported. In addition to the new consumer form, the FDA has initiated MedWatchLearn, which is designed as a learning tool for healthcare professional students.
