FDA Recommendation on Acetaminophen Prescribing

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recommendation that healthcare providers discontinue prescribing and dispensing prescription combination medicines with more than 325 mg of acetaminophen to reduce the risk of liver damage. This announcement provides an opportunity to remind patients to use medicines with acetaminophen safely. The Acetaminophen Awareness Coalition’s Know Your Dose campaign has free educational materials in English and Spanish to help you communicate acetaminophen safety with your patients, available for order at KnowYourDose.org.
