October is “Talk About Prescriptions” Month: Collaboration is the Key

October 2011 marks the 26th annual “Talk About Prescriptions” Month (TAP Month). TAP Month was started by the National Council on Patient Information and Education (NCPIE) in 1986 to raise public awareness about the importance of high quality medicine communication between / among consumers and their health care professionals. This year’s TAP Month theme, “Collaboration is the Key for Medication Safety,” reinforces the importance of what NCPIE refers to as the Medicine Education Team, with consumers and caregivers at the center of the team with their healthcare providers.
