Patients Want More Technology-Oriented Care: Survey

In an age of personalized medicine, patients want to gain a “contextual understanding of their prescriptions,” and drug manufacturers that connect with them via mobile technology that can monitor their progress will have an edge, according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers survey. Surveyors also found that patients would like do-it-yourself health screening stations in pharmacies. "Technology that gives consumers more control over their lives, suggests health decisions and avoids unnecessary medical appointments can bolster patient empowerment and improve outcomes,” the report states. “If their expectations are met, they're much more likely to follow the proper course of treatment for longer.” (Initially accessed via NACDS E-ssentials, 11/14/13)
